Sarah Elliott
Bio
Sarah Elliott creates oil and watercolor paintings, as well as charcoal drawings, in which constantly shifting colors and values intertwine with sounds and rhythms in her mind, evoking a contemplative engagement with both figurative and non-figurative subjects. A broad spectrum of artistic traditions has deeply influenced her work due to living most of her life outside of the United States (Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Mainland China and France). In particular, her art and teaching were transformed by her work with Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky and by the original research shared by Francis Pratt, Director of the Painting School of Montmiral. Sarah received her MFA at Boston University and has participated in numerous residencies since 1993. She has dedicated many years to teaching art to a broad age range in all the countries mentioned above. Her work has been exhibited in the United States, Italy and France. Currently, she resides in Durham, NH and is a Lecturer of painting and drawing at UNH.
